Amazing amazing amazing person !!!! He is kind, genuinely caring, knowledgeable and performed my mom’s surgery with no issues. She is 73 yo had a colon resection and placed new mesh and pendiculectomy. Him and his staff know exactly what they are doing. He changed her life and she is now able to use the bathroom normally and feels so much better better so far. Thank you!!! Also I highly recommend him.

Finally I feeling like I have been heard. It was nice to realize that Dr. Barczak was educated on the side effect of having a Lower Anterior resection. When he said what is your new normal like, I wanted to cry. DR.Barczak took the time to listen and explain what is going to happen during a procedure I will be having soon. I feel very safe in his care and his office staff are very nice.

Dr Barczak performed my colon resection surgery. He was amazing, compassionate, thorough, professional and reassuring. This was a challenging surgery and somewhat complicated due to a 5.1 cm abscess that had ruptured. I would very highly recommend Dr Barczak !

Bio

Dr. Rafal Barczak is a colorectal surgeon with Hartford HealthCare. Clinically, his interests include: inflammatory bowel disease, ulcerative colitis and Crohn’s disease; minimally-invasive intestinal surgery; colectomy; colorectal cancer screening and treatment; inherited colorectal disease; sphincter sparing cancer surgery; hemorrhoids; rectal prolapse; rectopexy; treating polyps of the colon and rectum; transanal endoscopic microsurgery; diverticulitis; anal fistulas and fissures; gastrointestinal surgery; anal cancer; cancer of the small intestine; bowel incontinence; constipation; pouchitis; proctitis; perirectal abscesses; pilonidal cysts; and sacral nerve stimulation for treatment of fecal incontinence.

After finishing his undergraduate degree at Boston College, Dr. Barczak earned a medical degree from the University of Connecticut School of Medicine. He completed a residency in general surgery at the University of Connecticut and a clinical and research colorectal fellowship at Cleveland Clinic Florida.

Dr. Barczak is fluent in Polish and proficient in Russian. He is board certified by the American Board of Surgery and the American Board of Colon & Rectal Surgery. He is a member of the American College of Surgeons, the American Society of Colon & Rectal Surgeons and the Society of American Gastrointestinal & Endoscopic Surgeons.
